Maruki surf guide

Maruki is a surf spot located in Kamogawa, Japan. It offers a mix of reef and sand breaks that appeal to intermediate surfers. This spot is known for its left-hand waves and can accommodate a range of surf sizes. It tends to attract some experienced surfers, so finding your own wave can be a bit challenging, especially when it's busy. For beginners, it's best to head to the beach breaks closer to shore instead.

The best conditions at Maruki come from a NorthEast swell, which works well with wave heights starting at around 2ft (0.6 meters) and can go up to triple overhead when it's really pumping. The waves break over an uneven reef and sand bottom, offering steep drops and the potential for barrels and ridable walls. It's important to surf during low, mid, or high tides, but lower tides tend to deliver the best rides. Wind from the north is ideal for clean waves, but watch out for how crowded it can get during good surf days.

Since Maruki can produce some powerful waves, it's recommended that surfers have at least intermediate skills. The spread of the take-off zone across the reef can help, but experience might make it easier to navigate through the busier line-ups. So, make sure you're ready before paddling out!
