Molho Leste is located just to the north of Supers, and it's a surf spot known for its right-hand waves. This place attracts surfers looking for something a bit different. It’s recognized by some surfers as a solid option, often rated competitively against Supertubos, but it’s not always consistent. The wave setup requires a decent swell and is best suited for those who can handle its demands.
The waves at Molho Leste really start to work with a southwest swell direction but can handle swells coming from the south and west as well. It’s ideal for swells at about 1.2 meters (4 feet), producing thick barrels that can be challenging. Surfers need to be experts to navigate the air drops and the speed required to catch the waves. The preferable wind direction is from the north, and it works across all tide heights—low, mid, and high. Just keep in mind that a bigger swell is needed here compared to Supers.
This spot can experience rips, and while it can produce some great waves, it's also known for having quite a few local surfers. If you decide to hit it, be prepared for that localized vibe and surf with respect. Make sure you check the conditions, and if it’s looking good, you might find yourself scoring some solid rides.
