It’s got to be a big swell and tide before Moody Point will consider breaking. This submerged boulder reef shapes rights and lefts, which are both hollow and powerful. From the critical, steep take-off, there are a few barrel sections, which depend on swell direction to work. The rights like a SE swell and are easier to make than the lefts, which generally close-out because a right breaks into it from further down the beach. Easy paddle-out.
Tight take-off area means a half dozen surfers is a crowd. A sewer pipe discharges into the line-up along with some stormwater from the salt marshes behind Moody. Parking absolutely sucks.
