Moruya Rivermouth is a popular surf spot located on the south coast of New South Wales. This spot is known for its reliable waves and a well-defined sandbar that helps create decent surf conditions. It tends to attract quite a few surfers, especially in the warmer months, which can make it a bit crowded during peak times.
The waves here generally break over sand and are best when the swell is coming from the SouthEast. You can expect both lefts and rights, but the lefts are usually the main feature. Swell sizes around 3ft (about 0.9 meters) work well here, especially during low to mid tide. The waves start off steep and can wall up nicely across the bay. The preferred wind direction is from the SouthWest, which helps clean up the waves. It's a spot that suits intermediate surfers fairly well.
In summer, Moruya Rivermouth gets pretty busy as it tends to be more consistent than other rivermouths along the south coast. If you're looking for something less crowded, you might want to check out the north side of the wall where you can find sucky rights and lefts that offer a different experience away from the main crowd.
