Mosca Point surf guide

Mosca Point is located on the southeast coast of Gran Canaria and is known for having the longest left wave on the island. It’s a solid spot, but it only offers good surf conditions a handful of times throughout the year, typically when northeast to east swells are cleaned up by west winds. The rides here can be super long and have some fun barrel sections, making it a spot worth checking out when it's on.

This place handles swells in the range of 3ft (about 1 meter) and works best with optimal swell coming from the east. You'll want to catch it at low to mid tide for the best conditions. Just remember that it's a left point break over boulders, and it tends to get crowded, particularly when the surf is good. Intermediate surfers will find it manageable, but be aware that localism is becoming more common, so keep it friendly in the water.

The strong easterly winds, known as Alisios, can affect your time at Mosca Point, but they also create a unique eolic landscape with several wind farms in the area. So while you surf, you can enjoy some interesting views. Just be ready for a crowd when the waves are firing. Happy surfing!
