Overview
Naples Pier is Naples' main break and the most consistent, most surfed spot in the area. It breaks over sand around the pier, with a beach-and-pier setup.
The north side tends to bowl off the pier. The south side is usually longer and mushier, though on large cold fronts the north side can be blown out while the south side gets the bowl. Overall, it is a reliable local option rather than a standout wave.
When It Works
The spot works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. Swell can come from the southwest, west, and northwest, with the broader window running northwest through north to southwest.
Fall through spring is the main season, with hurricane season also worth watching.
Wind and Tide
The workable wind window runs from north through east to south-southeast. The offshore wind direction is east-northeast.
Low to mid tide is the main tide window, and a rising tide is better. Locally, northwest wind favors the south side, while southwest wind favors the north side.
Local Tips
Crowds are usually moderate to busy, and the lineup can feel somewhat reserved, though the overall vibe is easygoing.
It suits a wide range of surfers, from beginners to experts, and works with shortboards, funboards, longboards, and skimboards. Paddling is easy most days, but can get a little more challenging on bigger windswell days.
Watch for pilings and remnants of pilings. Outside occasional red tide outbreaks, the water is usually clean.
Access
There is metered parking, so bring payment and keep the meter fed.
