Ned’s Beach surf guide

Ned's Beach is a surf spot that offers a mix of different breaks, with the standout being a left point setup at the northern end known as Mexico. There’s also Surfers Hole, which can be fun but is pretty fickle and works best with a solid easterly swell. The place doesn't get super crowded, which is nice if you prefer some space in the lineup, though that can make it feel a bit spooky due to shark activity.

The surf here can be inconsistent because of the Admiralty Islands, which block some swells. When it's on, the ideal swell direction is from the East, but you can catch some fun waves with swells coming from the Northeast and Southeast too. The spot can handle swell sizes around 3 ft (about 0.9 m) and breaks over uneven reef, delivering mostly left-point waves. For the best conditions, west winds work well, and you can surf during low, mid, and high tides. This spot is more suited for intermediate surfers, so make sure you're comfortable before hitting the water.

Even though the crowd factor is nice, it's worth being aware of the local conditions. The breaks can vary quite a bit, so checking the surf report before heading out is always a smart move. If you do find yourself at Ned's Beach, take a moment to enjoy the unique vibe of the place and make the most of the sessions.
