New Jetty surf guide

New Jetty is a surf spot located just north of El Porto, easily accessible from the pay lot at El Segundo Beach. This spot is popular among local surfers and features a sandy bottom, which makes it a decent choice for varying skill levels. It's a spot that's somewhat protected from northwest winds due to the jetty, making it a consistent pick for a surf session. The area is generally lively, with surfers often gathering to catch some waves.

The surf at New Jetty is primarily short, hollow rights that break off the south side of the jetty. It needs a southwest swell for optimal conditions, but it can also handle some smaller south or northwest swells. The best swell size to look for is around 1ft (0.3 meters), especially during lower tides, which are preferable for better wave formation. This spot is generally suited for intermediate surfers, so make sure you're comfortable on your board before paddling out.

On the north side of the jetty, known as Hammerland, the waves can get big and steep during winter swells, creating some serious close-out barrels. If you're looking for something a bit more challenging after warming up on the south side, that could be a good option. Just remember to keep an eye on the conditions and be aware of the crowd, as it can get busy out there.
