Noordhoek Beach surf guide

Noordhoek Beach is located in a southern part of South Africa and offers a mix of beach breaks and a right reef, making it a versatile spot for surfers. The beach usually faces due south and can experience some strong onshore winds. It can be a decent spot for small summer swells and works well when the winds come from the northwest. Despite being a nudist beach, it often isn't crowded, giving surfers room to enjoy the waves, especially when other nearby spots are flat.

The surf at Noordhoek Beach can handle swell sizes starting from 1ft (0.3m), and it works best with south swells. It offers both left and right waves, with the right-handed waves breaking off the rocks in the western corner. The waves can break over uneven reef and sand, providing a bit of variety. For the best conditions, the preferred wind direction is from the north, and you can surf here during low, mid, and high tides. This spot is suitable for beginners, especially when the swell is smaller.

There’s also a right reef break at the other end, known as Non Kom, which is pretty much dead in offshore northeast winds. This area is less crowded compared to the main beach, providing a good alternative if you’re looking for fewer surfers around. Overall, Noordhoek Beach can be a fun spot to hit, especially during the right conditions.
