North Island surf guide
Surf: General: Only accessible by boat, this is the island to the north of Winyah Bay. North Island is completely undeveloped and unbelievably beautiful. There are loads of shells, dunes and a full maritime forest that make getting here worth the effort. The island is somewhat more exposed to swell than areas to the north, and works on all swells, though some souths may be blocked by sand near Winyah Bay. Beware of currents if you are surfing too close to the river during a changing tide, as lots of water flows through.
Tides: Low to mid, ends of the island; mid to high, central beachbreaks
