Nusa Dua surf guide

Nusa Dua is a surf spot located on the southern coast of Bali, Indonesia. It’s known for its beautiful surroundings and is popular among both local and visiting surfers. The area features a mix of reef breaks, and while it’s not the most consistent spot, when it’s on, it can be a pretty fun surf experience.

The surf at Nusa Dua works best with a southwest swell and can handle sizes around 1-3 feet (0.3-1 meter). The waves break over live coral, creating both left and right-hand waves. The wind prefers to come from the northwest, which helps to clean up the surf. Depending on the tide, you can surf here at low, mid, or high tide, but it’s particularly manageable for intermediate surfers. Just keep in mind that the currents can be tricky, and getting back out after riding the inside lefts can feel like a workout!

While it’s mainly a wet season staple, you might find some sneaky good sessions during the dry season, especially in the early mornings. If you're planning to paddle out, be ready for a bit of a hike back against the northward drift, especially after catching one of the heavier waves. If you want to save energy, consider catching a boat ride out.
