Nyang Nyang surf guide

Nyang Nyang is a surf spot located on the south coast of Bali, nestled beneath some impressive cliffs. It's known as one of those places where if it’s flat at Nyang Nyang, it’s flat everywhere else in the area. Getting there might feel like a trek, as there’s a long walk down to the beach, but this also helps keep the crowd levels relatively low compared to other spots in Bali. The beach has a beautiful, untouched feel, making it a nice place to hang out when the surf isn’t pumping.

This spot works best with a southwest swell and can handle sizes starting from around 2ft (0.6m). The waves mainly break over dead coral, which creates a reef break. The rights are the main feature here, but they can become a bit tricky as they get overhead. If you’re looking to catch the best conditions, aim for mid to high tide and a northeast wind. It's suitable for intermediate surfers, but be warned, the waves can max out quickly, and you'll want to be aware of some strong rips and sneaker sets coming through the lineup.

While you surf here, keep your eyes peeled for sealife, as it's known to be abundant in the waters. Also, make sure you have enough energy for the walk back up; it's a serious workout! Whether you're catching a wave or just lounging on the beach, Nyang Nyang has its own vibe that appeals to those looking for a less crowded surf experience.
