Surf: Any swell from NE to SE will see rideable peaks throughout the tidal range. High tide can stop the outside bars from breaking, but it will form up on the inside. Mid gives the best choice of outer and inner breaks, with some steeper reforms closer to shore. Access: Free in winter only Environment: Rarely crowded as strong rips disperse surfers over a wide area. There is a non-surfing area roped off in summer for the swimmers, but the lifeguards won’t bother you if you avoid this area. The further you go from the rivermouth, the cleaner the water gets.
