More about Olendé surfspot

SW facing stretch of coastline down to Congo. Little is known but it’s a fairly straight sandy shore with lagoons creating sandspits, which potentially could hold some insane lefts. Olendè is host to one of these with a 1km long, wrapping left, skirting the Barre des Portugais shore. It has only been surfed a handful of times. Unfortunately, the fishing camp at Olendè was closed in 2000 but there are two camps at Ozuri and Iguela, south of Ombouè. Be warned that local surfcasters catch plenty of sharks and barracudas in this area. Either use a speed boat (very expensive) from Port-Gentil or fly to Ombouè, the nearest main village.
