Ondarreta surf guide

Ondarreta is located at the west end of La Concha beach in San Sebastian. It's a popular spot, often getting crowded when the waves are good. This beach is known for its decent amenities, making it a convenient choice for surfers looking for a quick session close to the heart of the city. Although it's a fun spot to surf, finding parking can be tricky during the summer months, especially when the waves are up.

The surf here tends to be average, with beach break waves that primarily roll left and right. It works best on a NorthWest swell, but you can catch decent waves from the North as well. Ondarreta handles swell sizes from around 1ft (0.3 meters) and can start to get more lively during strong conditions. It's best at mid to high tide and favors SouthWest winds. While the waves can be short and semi-closeout at times, they can still offer a fun challenge for intermediate surfers looking to improve their skills.

Keep in mind that this spot is often less consistent than others in the area, mainly coming alive during winter months. If you're in the mood for something different when La Zurriola is too crowded or stormy, Ondarreta can be a decent option to consider.
