Ostriconi is an isolated beachbreak located on the southern side of the Agriates Desert. This spot has a beautiful white sand beach and a snaking rivermouth. It tends to get crowded during July and August, so if you prefer some space, you might want to consider going outside of peak season. To access the beach, you'll need to go down a cliff and do a little walking, so be prepared for that.
When it comes to surfing at Ostriconi, it works best with a small clean swell. The optimal swell direction is from the west, but it can handle swell from the north as well. It breaks over sand, creating beach waves that can go left or right. While it can work at sizes around 1 ft (0.3 m), keep in mind that it can get quite punishing quickly with strong lines of whitewash and rip currents. The spot is best surfed during low to mid to high tide, and it prefers a southeast wind. It's suitable for intermediate surfers; if you're just starting out, you might find it a bit challenging.
Besides the beach itself, when the wind picks up, you might want to check out Lozari further south, as it often fires up when the Mistral winds are howling. Itβs a good backup spot if you're looking for a bit more action when Ostriconi isn't firing.
