The 77km (48mi) West Coast Trail starts near Bamfield about 10min from Pachena Bay where very average straighthanders roll into a deep bay that faces SW. There’s a great campground to use as a base for exploring the surrounding wilderness, but surfing is not permitted along the West Coast Trail. Pachena Point has been surfed since the ‘60s, but is off-limits without a boat.
