Pass Lefts surf guide

Pass Lefts is located just out from the Otuhaka Beach Resort. It’s known for being one of the more consistent spots on the island, particularly for smaller swells. This left-hander can sometimes offer a hollow wave, but it tends to close out when it’s over about 6 feet (1.8 meters). It’s a fun place for beginners to practice their skills since the wave is more forgiving. However, more experienced surfers might find the waves a bit slow and less challenging.

The optimal swell direction for Pass Lefts is SouthWest, but it can pick up swells from the South and West too. It handles swell sizes as small as 2 feet (0.6 meters), making it a great spot for those just starting out. The wave breaks over LiveCoral, and you’re mainly going to be riding lefts here. For the best conditions, aim for mid to high tide and a light East wind to make your session smoother.

While Pass Lefts is perfect for beginners, more experienced surfers may find the pace of the wave a bit boring over time. Still, it’s a good option for a laid-back surf session, especially if you're looking to work on your skills without the pressure of big waves. Just keep in mind that it’s not the most intense spot out there.
