Pass Rights surf guide

Pass Rights, sometimes known as the Alley, is a surf spot located across the channel. It offers a relatively laid-back vibe, especially during the summer season. The waves can get a bit tricky with W-NW swells, but for due N swells, it’s often pretty fun and welcoming for surfers of all skill levels. The waves start off faster and hollower, eventually leading into a deeper channel where cutbacks are a common maneuver.

The optimal swell direction for Pass Rights is from the North, making the spot handle swell sizes starting at around 2 ft (0.6 m). However, it can also work with swells coming from the Northwest. When the conditions are right, the right-hand waves break over a LiveCoral reef, providing a unique surfing experience. It’s ideal to catch it on mid to high tides, and the best wind direction is from the Southeast. Beginners will find that there’s enough to enjoy here, but it can get a bit intense when the swells pick up, so be mindful of the conditions.

On the other side of the peak, there is an average left that can show up during winter S swells, often called Leftovers. Overall, Pass Rights offers a variety of conditions that can suit different skill levels, but it’s essential to keep an eye on the swell and tide to make the most of your session.
