More about Pelican Beach Park surfspot
General: Satellite Beach is home to some of the more consistent, lesser-known breaks in Brevard County, especially when there's a bit of swell in the water, as it manages to keep long-period swells from shutting down. You can thank the coquina reefs that line the best spots, making for waves that are generally more open-faced than hollow but still push back, offering sections to punt or power gouge -- especially when it's overhead. Tides: Low to mid tide; High tide sometimes okay here Size: Waist-3' overhead Wind: W Swell: NE-ENE-E Bottom: Sand and coquina/worm rock Paddling: Not too bad but can be challenging when the surf is bigger. Spot Rating: Gets good but comes and goes with the sand.
Intermediate and up. Be aware of the coquina and work rock bottom.
Public access with large lot and plenty of parking. You can even plug in here if you drive an electric car.
Fall-Spring, Hurricane
Crowd Factor: Gets crowded when it is good, but often can be empty. Local Vibe: Pretty mellow overall.
Usually very clean.
Big fish occasionally cruise along the rocks.
