Pellines is a small locality located 26 km south of Constitucion. It's easy to miss because it’s quite small, so keep your eyes peeled as you pass through. The area primarily consists of a fishing harbor, a few shops, and some small fishing houses. While it may not have the best waves compared to other spots in the region, Pellines can offer some decent surf when conditions aren't right elsewhere.
The spot works best with swells coming from the West, WestSouthWest, or even North directions. You can expect waves that handle sizes from about 1.2 to 1.8 meters (4ft to 6ft). It mainly serves up left pointbreaks over a sand bottom, making it a reasonable option for beginners, intermediates, and even some advanced surfers. When the waves are on, they can range from chest high to slightly overhead. For the best experience, look for those days with low or high tides. The best wind direction is oriented toward the East or South areas. Just keep in mind that after a long ride, you might feel it when paddling back to the top of the point.
Access is pretty simple; just park in the harbor right in front of the beach. The crowd factor here is low, often with only a person or two sharing the waves with you. You probably won’t find many people in the water, but watch out for some fisherfolk who might be around. Overall, the local vibe is chilled, making it a nice backup spot when the more popular areas aren’t delivering.
