More about Penhale (Perran Sands) surfspot
Huge stretch of decent beachbreaks, best at higher tide. The peaks always seem better just up or down the beach a bit… To the north is Penhale Corner – a long, walling right peeling off Ligger Point at lower tides. Very open to swell and wind and it can be rippy.
General: Huge stretch of golden sand overlooked by towering sand dunes, this is a consistent and fun beach break with shifting peaks that work through all tides. A huge area to spread out and lifeguarded in summer, popular with local and visiting surfers who want to escape the busier beaches. Bring a good vibe and it will be returned. Long, up-hill walk back from the surf. Drive through holiday camp to pay and display parking overlooking sea. Tides: Breaks through the tides. Size: Thigh to head high. Wind: SE to NE Swell: NW, W, SW Bottom: Sand. Paddling: OK when small, hard work over that. Spot Rating: Good beachie with shifty peaks, was quiet, now getting crowded.
Fun spot for all.
Pay car park, get tickets from holiday camp reception.
June - November is the golden time.
Crowd Factor: Can get busy, but generally mellow. Local Vibe: Competitive locals on best peaks, fairly relaxed on the rest.

Good.
Crowds, occasional adder in the dunes.
