More about Pentewan surfspot

Rarely-breaking beachbreak needing a huge S swell, can get hollow at high.

General: This small beach break faces due east, meaning only the biggest Atlantic swells or storms wrap around into the bay. Offshore in westerly winds, its best when small and clean, working well from low to mid - gets a bit fat at high when there can be backwash from the steep beach. Usually crowded when working. Tides: Low to near high. Size: Thigh to head high. Wind: W to NW Swell: W to SW Bottom: Sand. Paddling: Easy paddle out. Spot Rating: Fun wave in huge storms, easily closes out.

Fun spot for all.

Pay parking at leisure centre in campsite. Ticket gets you discount in the leisure centre cafe.

December - February when the big storms rage.

Crowd Factor: Can be one of few spots working so expect crowds. Local Vibe: Pretty friendly.

Car park by beach and camping/caravan park.

Good.

Crowds - watch out for bailed boards.
