General: Patrick Air Force Base ends right at the beginning of Satellite Beach, a border marked by the A1A-Pineda Causeway, which connects with both US 1 and I-95. Driving south from PAFB, Perkins restaurant was an institution here but no longer exists. Right next door is a public beach ramp with very limited parking. Like most of the beach between PAFB and Boardwalk in Indialantic, shelves of coquina rock hold the sand that shifts with ocean currents, making this spot relatively shallow and punchy. Though RC's is better known, and often more crowded, Perkins (aka Lums) is similarly appreciated for its ability to handle larger swells, which have tendency to shut down at spots with less consistent bottom contours. Tides: Low to mid tide Size: Waist-3' overhead Wind: W Swell: NE-ENE Bottom: Sand and coquina/worm rock Paddling: Not too bad but can be challenging when the surf is bigger. Spot Rating: Pretty similar to other Satellite Beach spots to the south. The sand comes and goes but this spots is worth checking although parking it scarce.

Intermediate and up. Be aware of the coquina and worm rock bottom.

Limited parking.

Crowd Factor: Used to attract a crowd. They come and go with the sand. Local Vibe: Pretty mellow overall.

Usually very clean.
