Pinarellu is a left-hand reef on the east coast of Corsica, breaking over a mix of uneven reef and sand. When it turns on, the long lefts spinning down the sandy reef show real quality, and local surfers rate it among Corsica's finest waves. It rewards anyone who paddles out with a bit of skill and respect for the spot.
When It Works
It takes a strong swell from the east or southeast to get those long lefts running. The reef draws swell from northeast to southeast, with east the direction that lights it up best. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. Consistency is the catch: the spot is inconsistent, so it needs the right swell to line up before it shows its best.
Wind and Tide
Look for a west offshore wind to groom it clean. Pinarellu can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a rewarding left for intermediate surfers, though the reef still asks for care and awareness. Expect a busy lineup when it's on.
