Pipes - Miramar surf guide

Pipes is a rocky beachbreak located just north of Miramar Point. This spot is known for producing barrels when the conditions are right. The surf here works best with small to medium swells, particularly from the south and southwest. It's a place where you can enjoy some decent waves, but it's not the most reliable location for beginners.

The waves at Pipes can pack a punch, especially during low tide. It's good for intermediate surfers since the area can be hollow and fast over a rocky bottom and uneven reef. This spot typically handles swell sizes from around 2 feet (0.6 meters) up to overhead. The wave types you'll find here are both beach breaks with left and right-handers. For better conditions, the preferable wind is from the northeast, and it handles various tide heights—low, mid, and high works here.

Make sure to check the swell direction before heading out; the best setup is with south to southwest swells. While Pipes can deliver some fun performance walls, just be aware that the environment can be tricky due to the rocky areas. So, it’s best suited for those who have a bit more experience in the water.
