Overview
Plage Remel is a sandy beach break tucked into the forest east of Bizerte, where the landscape shifts and the trees keep the waves hidden after a 20-minute crossing of the canal. Three tankers have been shipwrecked along this stretch of coast. When the surf is clean, it can turn hollow.
When It Works
The beach throws up both lefts and rights over a sand bottom. It draws swell from west through north to northeast, and northwest is the direction that lines it up best. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for a south offshore wind to clean things up. The beach can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
