More about Playa Azul surfspot

General: Surfing at Playa Azul is truly a grab-bag experience -- wherever you park, just paddle straight out. Those who have surfed Baja Malibu in Northern Baja will immediately see similarities in Azul. There are peaks bulging up and down the beach, glassy morning conditions, and fast walls and round barrels. Because it is such a vast surfing landscape, expect to drift far from your paddle-out location and to get stuck in some bicep-burning current on paddles back out. Despite the challenges, Playa Azul is an oft-overlooked jewel and always worth checking year-round but especially between spring and autumn. Tides: Low to mid. Size: Chest high to double overhead Wind: N, NE Swell: SSE, S, SW, W Bottom: Sand. Paddling: Strong currents, long paddles out. Spot Rating: Gets torn apart by onshores often, but can be good early.
