More about Playa Bonita surfspot

In April 1991, a 7.4 earthquake raised the coral reefs by 2-3ft (0.6-1m) and affected some of the Limón spots. Always crowded Playa Bonita is the main beach in the area and features a chunky mid-tide left reef at the north end which gets slamming hollow in a strong NE swell. The high tide beachbreak closes-out at headhigh and the low tide Los Tumbos rights are short and sucky over a rocky minefield favoured by bodyboarders.

The left is often closed out in E swells and the air drops are tricky - experienced surfers only and be aware this is a localised beach.
