Playa Caribe surf guide

Playa Caribe is a beach located on the main island, facing north. It's known for its white sand and vibrant atmosphere, but it's often crowded with swimmers and people enjoying the beach bars. The vibe can be lively, making it a popular spot for both locals and tourists.

The surf here is generally more suited for intermediate surfers. Most of the time, you’ll find small shorebreaks, but head down to the eastern end past the island, and you might catch better waves with more swell and decent shape. The optimal swell direction is from the northeast, but it can also pick up from the east. Playa Caribe can handle swell sizes starting from around 1ft (0.3 meters). The waves break over sand and you can expect both left and right breaks. For the best conditions, look for south winds and when the tide is low, mid, or high.

Since this spot tends to be crowded, it’s always good to keep an eye out for other surfers and swimmers. It's a fun place to enjoy the beach and catch some waves if you know what to look for.
