Playa del Mujer is an exposed bay that attracts surfers looking for a chill day on the waves. The spot works best when the winds are light or coming from the southeast. It features a large rock in the middle that can help create some nice waves peeling off to either side, but don’t be surprised if many of them end up being close-outs. It’s a spot that's more suited for those who know what they're doing once it gets bigger.
This beach can handle swells as small as 1 ft (about 0.3 m) and works best with north-east swell. You’ll often find left and right breaking waves here that come from the south-west and north-east directions. With tide heights that range from low to high, there's something for everyone, especially beginners who can enjoy the surf during smaller swells. Just be aware that while the area is good for learning, there are strong currents that can be tricky for swimmers.
Access to Playa del Mujer is pretty straightforward, but keep in mind that it’s a rough track. You’ll need to leave your car at the top of the beach by the rubbish bins. It’s easy to get stuck, and there’s no mobile connection, so make sure you're prepared. If you want to camp, you can do that here, but don’t forget to get permission first. In the summer, it can get crowded when surf schools bring in their students, so if you’re looking for some space, try going earlier or later in the day.
