Point Annihilation has a clue in the name – make the powerful barrelling take-off to reach the long dynamic walls. Handles plenty of size and links up better at lower tides.
From Napier, head north on Pandora Road State Highway 2, onto Meeanee Quay and Main North Road out of the city. Continue on State Highway 2 through Wairoa, then at Nuhaka go straight through the roundabout onto Nuhaka Opoutama Road. Continue along to Waikokopu, and turn right onto Waikokopu Road. Park at the end of the road and walk down to the beach.
A long paddle out from the ruins of the Wiakokopu wharf. Suited to experienced surfers and the line-up gets busy with local rippers.
