Overview
Pointe Milou is a right-hand pointbreak that fires over an uneven reef in front of the Christopher Hotel. There's no beach here, just a rocky shore, and when it turns on people gather along the rocks to watch. The wave is powerful and unforgiving, so it's an experts-only proposition.
When It Works
Big north swell is what wakes this point up. It takes swell from north to east (N-E), with north (N) the direction that lines the rights up best, and it works from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 3 m / 10 ft. Consistency is the catch: swells that hit the mark don't turn up all that often, so it's a spot worth watching rather than counting on.
Wind and Tide
The point sits in a well-sheltered corner and stays protected from the wind, with southwest (SW) the offshore direction. It works on low and mid tide, and a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one is for experts only, both for the power of the wave and the uneven reef underneath. The lineup usually stays fairly quiet even when it's on.
