Pools surf guide

Pools is a surf spot located in front of the Abaco Inn, known for its shallow reef breaks. It usually works best on days when Rush Reef isn’t big enough. This spot is pretty accessible, and it’s a nice place to catch some surfers out enjoying the waves on good days.

The spot loves a NorthEast swell, which is when you’ll find the best conditions. It handles swell sizes starting at about 2 feet (0.6 meters) and can throw decent lefts and rights. Most surfers prefer hitting the lefts when the Northeast swells roll in, but don’t miss the chance to try some rights too. It works best at mid to high tide, and if the wind’s coming from the Northwest, you’re in for a better session. Really, this spot is best suited for intermediate surfers looking to have fun but not exactly for beginners.

Pools breaks over live coral, which can make things interesting. It’s a good place to chill and check the conditions before deciding to jump in, making it easy to assess whether it’s worth paddling out or not.
