Port Mary surf guide

Port Mary, also known as Shelikof Bay, is a surf spot that caters mostly to beginners looking for sandy beachbreaks. The vibe here is relaxed, making it a good place to practice your skills without too much pressure. It's a scenic area with a nice backdrop of nature, perfect for those chill surf days.

The waves here mainly break over sand and are great with west and southwest swells. You can catch waves that handle sizes around 1ft (about 0.3 meters) and you'll find both left and right break options. The best times to hit the water are during low to mid to high tides, while northeast winds are preferred for the smoothest conditions. It’s a solid spot to work on your skills, especially if you’re still getting used to the ocean.

Keep in mind that you might see some bears in the Iris Meadow behind the beach, so it’s wise to be aware of your surroundings. It's all part of the adventure here at Port Mary, and while the surf may not be the best in the area, it's definitely a chill place for beginners to enjoy some time in the water.
