Porto da Cruz used to be a fairly user-friendly wave, and popular with younger surfers from Funchal, until the government built a seawall next to it. Now it is more dangerous and only rideable at dead low tide. Needs a N swell and S winds, and even then there's probably some place better to surf.
A long way to go for a low consistency spot. Large seapool nearby.
