Prospect Point surf guide

Prospect Point is a surf spot that offers challenging conditions, especially suited for experienced surfers. It’s located on a rocky reef, providing consistent waves when the swells are right. This spot tends to attract those looking for fast and technical rides, so it’s important to be aware of the surroundings, including some tricky rocks. The vibe here can be less crowded than other spots, but that doesn't mean it's always easy to catch a good wave.

The waves at Prospect Point are mostly lefts, breaking over the uneven reef, and they really fire up with Southeast swells, making it ideal when the swells hit around 4 feet (about 1.2 meters). The best conditions usually happen at low tide, but mid-tide can work too. For surfers looking to avoid the more difficult sections, Prospect Middle Reef nearby can provide easier lefts that roll into a sandy inside section. When the swell gets bigger, Third Reef is another option, though it requires some serious size to get those longer peaks to form properly.

Just a heads up, the prevailing winds from the north are ideal here, but be alert for strong rips that can appear, especially during bigger swells. It’s wise to be cautious and make sure you’re prepared for the fast-paced waves. If you're up for a challenge, Prospect Point could be a great stop during your surf trip.
