More about Punta Conejo surfspot
The major coastal protrusion just west of town, Punta Conejo is the area's premier pointbreak, able to deliver rides up to 500m with a strong S swell. Because the often strong N-NE tradewinds blow sideshore and ruin the spot, SW-W winds or no wind is best.
General: With its machine-like, impossibly long walls, Conejo is one of the most popular, dependable, and downright fun waves in all of Salina Cruz. Showing its best face on large, long-period, straight south swells – the same ones that light up Puerto Escondido a clicks north – this sandbottom righthand point can be as good as anywhere on earth for the average regular-footer. Ten turn rides are standard here, and when the sand is just right, you can often luck into a few dredging tubes on the inside section. Of course, perfection breeds crowds, but if you practice patience, pay respect, and wait your turn, just a few good waves here can make your trip. Tides: Low to mid Size: Waist high to well overhead Wind: W, SW Swell: SSE, S, SSW Bottom: Sand Paddling: Most surfers get out and walk back up the point on foot Spot Rating: One of the most fun and user-friendly righthand points on earth
