Punta de Salinetas surf guide

Punta de Salinetas is a unique surf spot located along a less frequented stretch of coastline. On flat days, it can look like just open water, but when the swell is right, it reveals its potential for heavy waves. This spot is not overly crowded, making it a great choice for those looking to escape the busier beaches. It's known for its ultra-clean water, which adds to its appeal.

The waves here are primarily a left-breaking reef wave, suited only for expert surfers. The spot handles swell sizes starting from about 3 feet (around 1 meter), but can really showcase powerful waves with a due east swell. The most favorable conditions occur during mid to high tides. Winds from the west work best here, keeping the waves clean. It's essential to note that this is a heavy slab wave spot; so, riders looking to use boards with fins should think twice as it’s quite shallow over the uneven reef.

Punta de Salinetas can have strong currents, so it's advisable to be aware of your surroundings while you surf. The combination of the right swell direction, tide heights, and wind can lead to some exciting sessions, but remember, this spot is only for those with advanced skills. If you're up for a challenge, it might be worth checking it out when the conditions are good.
