Punta del Tigre surf guide

Punta del Tigre is a surf spot located at the southern tip, accessible via a long dirt track starting at Morro Jable. It’s a bit off the beaten path, so you'll need to be ready for a trek to get there. The vibe is laid-back, and it's definitely a place for surfers looking to challenge themselves.

The surf here can be tricky and is best for experienced surfers. It works best with northwest swells, while west and north swells can also bring in some waves. The reefs break over uneven surfaces, and you can expect waves that handle sizes up to around 1.5 meters (5 ft). You'll find both left and right-hand waves, with the right can peeling for over 300 meters. Mid to high tide is ideal for getting the best rides, and southeast winds are preferred. Just a heads up, be prepared for urchins and rips in the water.

Punta del Tigre is known for its hollow peelers in certain conditions, especially directly in front of the lighthouse. Bodyboarders might enjoy this part too when the right swells hit. Remember, this spot is for expert surfers only, so make sure you've got the skills to handle the waves here.
