Punta Prima - Menorca surf guide

Punta Prima is located on the southeast coast of Menorca, nestled between the beach and the island of l'Aire. When you arrive, you can't help but notice the crystal-clear water that shines in shades of green and blue. This beautiful color stays consistent throughout the year, even when there are waves. Punta Prima primarily works during the winter months when the Tramontana winds blow strong. If thereโ€™s a north swell hitting Menorca, you can count on Punta Prima to be working.

The spot picks up swell from the north all the way to the southwest, with northeast swells being optimal. It works well with swell sizes starting from 1 ft (0.3 m) and can handle a range of conditions. Waves break over sand, making it suitable for a variety of surfers since the take-off is not too complicated. You can expect long, organized waves that peel both left and right. For the best experience, a west wind is preferable, and it can hold up during low, mid, and high tides.

Keep in mind that Punta Prima can get pretty crowded, especially in summer and on weekends, thanks to the built-up resort town around it. Despite the crowd, the water remains clear, and it's common to see windsurfers in the area. This spot is not meant for expert surfers, so it's perfect for those looking to improve their skills or enjoy a relaxed session.
