Overview
Punta Sta Rosalillita is a right-hand point breaking over uneven reef, and when a really big west swell shows up it becomes an obvious call. The point delivers truly classic, extra-long rides, and there are several other breaks scattered around the bay, including waves beside the new harbour breakwalls.
When It Works
The point draws swell from west through northwest, with west swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. Consistency is the catch here: it can go quiet for stretches, but the windows are worth waiting for when the swell lines up properly.
Wind and Tide
Look for north offshore wind. The point can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Intermediate surfers will get the most out of the point. Expect a small but steady lineup on the days it turns on.
Access
Camping is the setup here, so plan on staying put if you want to be around for a swell window.
