Overview
Racetrack, on Sumba, is a challenging left that breaks over a dead-coral reef. It opens with a steep drop into a barrel section and runs into fast walls down the line.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from southwest through west, with southwest the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast offshore wind. The reef is best at mid tide, and a rising tide is generally the better call.
