Rams Right is a short, powerful right in the village of Midigama that breaks over a shallow dead-coral reef and throws frequent tubes. The setting is fairly primitive, which gives it a rawer, stripped-back feel compared with nearby Hikkaduwa.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from south through southwest, with southwest swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and it stays reliably consistent once the swell fills in.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northeast offshore wind. Midigama sits more open to south winds than breaks further up the coast, so a clean northeast flow makes a real difference here. The reef can work across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an intermediate-friendly right, though the shallow coral rewards confident, committed surfing. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it turns on, and it tends to draw fewer surfers than Hikkaduwa.
