Redcar is a range of rarely surfed reefbreaks scattered along the coast, breaking over rock ledge and offering both lefts and rights. The real prizes are two outer reefs, known locally as the 'scars', which hold plenty of untapped potential.
When It Works
The reefs pull in swell from north through east-northeast to southeast (N-ENE-SE), and they line up best on a north (N) swell. Expect rideable waves from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, with anything smaller or bigger falling outside the working range.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southwest (SW) offshore wind to clean things up. The reefs favour high tide, and a rising tide is generally the better call.

There's roadside parking and a car park nearby, along with restrooms and other facilities in Redcar.
