Redcar is a surf spot located along the coast, known for its rarely surfed reef breaks. The area features a couple of outer reefs, referred to as 'scars' by the locals, which offer some potential for surf when the conditions align properly. It’s a decent place to check out if you’re in the area, though it might not be the first choice for everyone.
The surf here works best with a swell coming from the north, but southeast swells can also work. You can expect waves that handle sizes of around 3 feet (about 0.9 meters). The breaks are over a rocky ledge, and you can catch both left and right waves depending on how everything is lining up. For the best experience, aim for high tide and try to catch it when the wind is coming from the southwest.
Redcar offers roadside parking and there are car parks nearby, making it easy to access the surf. It’s a nice spot to explore if you enjoy reef surf and are looking for something a bit different.
