Redington Breakwater surf guide
Surf: General: This jetty runs parallel to shore and waves break off the ends -- on a S swell, it breaks off the north end, and on a N swell, it breaks off the south end -- but the south side is definitely the better of the two. A right walls up on a big N swell, almost like a point. It's almost always bigger elsewhere, but it's a good spot for the locals who can't make it to Venice.
Tides: Low incoming

Wind: Onshore to generate some surf, E for clean conditions
Swell: SW, W, NW
Bottom: Sand
Paddling: Easy most days, can be a little more challenging on the bigger windswell days.
Spot Rating: This spot worked best many many years ago when the rocks were first installed. There was a reliable right off the south end of the rocks and left into a little cove on the north end. Occasionally it would break far enough out behind the rocks setting up some mini tubes. But sand has buried these and the spot is not quite the same as it once was. Still worth a look if in the area.
Access: Always be prepared to pay to park.
Crowds: Crowd Factor: Pretty minor.
Local Vibe: Nonexistent.
Environment: Outside of occasional red tide outbreaks, water is usually clean.
Hazards: Watch the breakwater rocks.
Season: Fall-Spring, Hurricane
