Mushy righthand sand-bottom point waves favored by beginners and longboarders. Rocks on the outside point area. Needs larger winter swells or the proper direction of W. Sets break out in the kelp beds before reforming into Refugio proper. Usually small and not very good. Rideable at all tides; low best with small swells, high best with big. Rides can be long with a speedy section on the inside; an occasionally good sandbar sometimes forms on the inside that is shortboardable.
Medium consistency and often crowded with longboarders and campers. Nice campground here (closed during winter). Cognoscenti pronounce it Refuffio.
