Rinconsito, or Little Rincon, is a surf spot that, while not as famous as its larger counterpart, still packs a punch when the conditions are right. It's set up to offer a nice stretch of waves that caters mainly to intermediate surfers. Even though it doesn’t see consistent action, when the swell hits, it can be a fun spot with plenty of room for maneuvering.
This place works best with a south swell and can handle sizes around 3ft (about 0.9 meters). The waves break over an uneven reef and typically offer right-hand point waves. The preferred wind direction is from the northwest, which can create some enjoyable surfing conditions. It’s also versatile in terms of tide heights, as the break is functional at low, mid, and high tides, allowing for more flexibility depending on the day's conditions.
Rinconsito tends to be less crowded, which is a plus when the surf is good. Since most surfers might head to other spots when conditions aren’t optimal, you may find yourself enjoying some space out in the water when Rinconsito finally turns on. Just be ready to catch the swell when it arrives!
