You'll want to be an expert to handle the conditions since this spot only really works on swells from 1.2 to 3.6 meters (4 to 12 feet). Right-handers are the name of the game, and they come alive best with a north to northwest swell, especially in the chest-high to double overhead range. The take-off can be tricky with the rocks lurking nearby, and it's a workout to paddle back out, particularly if you're caught in a cleanup set. Roca Puta is also known for its right-hand reef waves, making it a choice for those on shortboards or guns. The best tides are high, and the preferred wind is from the south.

The crowd factor can be significant, as there's a large local crew that regularly surf here. Overall, the scene is mostly tolerant, but humility and respect go a long way with the locals. Roca Puta typically sees its best conditions in the autumn months, from September to November, when swells are consistent and the surf is on point. Just be ready to earn your waves and respect the lineup.
