Puniho and Paora Roads lead to some classic waves like Rocky Lefts & Rights that straddle a boulder point and can get sucky and fast for more experienced surfers. The left will get barrels on straighter W swells and the rights are a predictable shreddable wall.
From New Plymouth head south west on Devon Street West, then onto South Road, The surf Highway, State Highway 45. Continue through Okato, turn right onto Paora Road, down to the end of the road. Rocky Rights is the right hander off the point and Rocky Lefts is the left hander.
Puniho Road is another long left with a shorter right over the boulders that need mid tide at least to cover them. Moderate crowds on occasion but so many waves to choose from.
